How To Earn Money From Your Photography Blog

I’m a huge fan of maximizing your earnings without maximizing your workload. Way back in 2019, I learned about a way to make extra income with relatively minimal effort. I learned how to earn money from my photography blog. Not by creating loads of new content, but by making small changes to posts I’d already created.

Since implementing this strategy, it’s earned me thousands in additional income. And that strategy is…

Affiliate Marketing

What is Affiliate Marketing?

You’ve almost certainly come across affiliate marketing before. It’s most commonly used when someone recommends a product or a service, and they either share a link or a discount code to it.

It works like this:

  1. Someone shares a link to a product
  2. You click on the link
  3. The link is unique to the person who shared it
  4. Your purchase is tracked back to the person who referred you
  5. They earn a small commission on your purchase (while you pay the same rate or even get a discount)

Where Can Photographers Use It?

If you’re a wedding or elopement photographer, you’re probably linking to several products or services without even realizing it. This most commonly happens in the following places:

  • Vendor credits on a blog post
  • Client guides
  • Informational blog posts

While some of these links won’t be ones you can make money from (such as links to other vendors), you might be surprised how many you can turn into affiliate links.
